Katherine (Kat) ForsytheKatherine (Kat) Forsythe

Email: katherinejane.forsythe@uct.ac.za

Kat was born and grew up in Australia. From an early age she had a passion for animals and wild places. She completed her BSc Honours at the University of Sydney majoring in ecology and animal behaviour. During her degree she spent her free time and holidays volunteering for conservation organisations and spent her summer holidays volunteering in Namibia. On completion of her degree she returned to Namibia to work on a project studying the foraging behaviour of baboons. After living in a tent in the African bush following baboons for seven months she had completely fallen in love with southern Africa and felt compelled to help in the conservation of its amazing animals and ecosystems. The following year she returned and worked as an ecologist for the Cheetah Conservation Fund in Namibia for a year and a half. Missing the academic world and wanting to broaden her knowledge she returned to University of Cape Town to do her Masters in Conservation Biology.
