Koebraa Peters was born and bred in Cape Town. She developed her passion for nature at a very young age thanks to her late father. She has always been driven to make a change, saving one animal at a time, specifically rescuing injured animals in an around her home. Growing up on the Cape Flats and losing her father at the age of 10 has been hard but through it all she has successfully completed her BSc degree in Marine Biology and Ecology as well as her Honours in Zoology at the University of Cape Town. In 2011 her honours project focussed on tracking domestic cats in a small Cape Town suburb, comparing their home ranges and recording the amount of prey captured in and around a wetland conservation area. She has also been involved in a research project assessing a population of parasites in the gall bladder of a rock pool fish Ceratomyxa cottoidii. Koebraa was involved in a documentary filmed by UCT’s Centre of Higher Education and Development to encourage grade 12 learners to further their studies at tertiary institutions. Aside from her studies, she enjoys photography, swimming, designing and being outdoors.
