The Percy FitzPatrick
Institute has an international reputation for research excellence in
ornithology and high quality post-graduate educational programmes in ornithology and conservation biology. In recognition
of this achievement, and to support an ambitious new research programme, the
Institute was recently identified as a Centre of
Excellence in Birds as Keys to Biodiversity Conservation by the Department of Science and Technology and the National Research
Foundation. Our research team comprises a
national network of researchers from the Percy FitzPatrick
Institute and collaborating partners
at four other institutions.
|
"Centres of Excellence (CoE) are
physical or virtual centres of research which concentrate existing
capacity and resources to enable researchers to collaborate across
disciplines and institutions, on long-term projects that are
locally relevant and internationally competitive in order to
enhance the pursuit of research excellence and capacity
development."

the NRF).
