Luke was born and grew up in Northern Ireland. After completing his undergraduate degree in Zoology locally at Queens University Belfast, he spent the 3 years working on bird projects across five continents. He is now undertaking a masters at the Fitzpatrick Institute, supervised by Prof. Claire Spottiswoode, and co-supervised by Dr. Nick Horrocks of the University of Cambridge. Luke performs his field work in Southern Zambia, investigating the adaptations that have arisen due to coevolution in a brood parasitic system, the honeyguides. Luke is supported by a Study Abroad studentship from The Leverhulme Trust and a NRF research grant.
