Field researcher needed
We are looking for a research assistant to join our team in our research on the building behaviour of White-browed sparrow weavers in the Kalahari Desert, South Africa.
The project is investigating the architectural traditions of birds by measuring the variability in morphology of the structures built by sympatric colonies of White-browed sparrow weavers as well as recording the building behaviour of these birds.
The position will involve field work over two months (February and March) in 2020 and will involve the collection in situ of morphological measurements of the nests and roosts built by the birds. It will also involve recording and filming the building behaviour of birds and data processing. Applicants should be hardworking, enthusiastic, and hold a driving licence. Previous field experience is desirable, but not essential, as training in the relevant field skills will be provided. Food, accommodation and travel costs will be covered.
The closing date for applications (a CV & covering letter to Dr Tello-Ramos) is 30th November 2019.
